The NASCAR Cup Series gets back on track this week after the Daytona 500 got the 2024 season off to an exciting start. William Byron won the first race of the season after finishing third in the point standings last season. Byron and the rest of the field head to Hampton, Georgia for the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. It is early in the season with every driver looking to find their traction in the NASCAR Cup Series. The Ambetter Health 400 has been a part of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season since 1960 and has served as an early season race in recent years after previously being the final race of the season from 1987-2001.

This race will start with Michael McDowell on the pole. McDowell also won a pole in one of the preseason, exhibition races this season, getting him off to a strong start after making the playoffs last season.

Heading into this race Byron is in first place after winning the Daytona 500. Behind him in the standings in second place is teammate Alex Bowman. Rounding out the top five are Christopher Bell, Chase Elliott and Bubba Wallace. Last year's series winner, Ryan Blaney finished 30th in the first race and is in 23rd place in the standings.

After this race the series shifts to the west in Las Vegas, Nevada with the Pennzoil 400 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Getting off to a strong start to the season could build momentum for every driver looking to make the playoffs and ultimately win the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Championship.
